Near Tahoe City there are plenty of trails to hike and bike on when the weather is warm. Floating down the Truckee River in an tube is a lot of fun too. There are plenty of dog friendly beaches so even Fido can enjoy the lake. If watching from the shore is not close enough, kayaking or sailing on the Lake is a wonderful way to spend a day and see some great views.
For winter visitors the big draw is skiing and snowboaring. With several of the areas most popular resort in this area it is easy to see why people flock to the area. Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Northstar, and Homewood are just a few of the resorts in the area. The village at Squaw Valley is like a city unto itself and vacationers will find everything they want their from shopping to dining.
Truckee is located next to beautiful Donner Lake. It's origins are as a railroad stop in the Sierras along the Transcontinental Railroad but today it is a picturesque town. In old town Truckee there are charming shops and boutiques that are sure to delight visitors.
