South Shore Lake Tahoe has a lot of action! Highway 50, also known as Lake Tahoe Boulevard, runs through town. On the east side you have the California-Nevada state line where life is geared toward tourism. Many hotels and resorts along with excellent restaurants can be found in this area. Heavenly Ski Resort is right there, with a gondola steps from most hotels. Besides Heavenly Ski Resort the area also features Kirkwood and Sierra-at-Tahoe.

To the west of Stateline is the city of South Lake Tahoe (where highway 50 meets 89) where you can find even more lodging and restaurant options. There is also a large marina where you can rent a boat for a day out on the lake.

If you drive on highway 89 west from South Lake Tahoe you'll be in for a treat. You'll drive by Camp Richardson and Emerald Bay. It is worth a day to explore the beauty of Emerald Bay and tour Vikingsholm Castle and the Ehrman Mansion. This pristine part of South Shore is made up mostly of parks and forest area so you'll be surrounded by the beauty of nature.
